Councilor Averhart envisions the City growing in the industries of Science, Technology, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, and Logistics.
Councilor Averhart is Chair of the Planning and Zoning Committee. He is also a member of the Budget and Finance Committee and the Telecommunications Committee.
Councilor Robert Averhart, III represents District Six, which includes the neighborhoods of Glen Oaks and Cambridge. Councilor Averhart was elected to serve his first term on August 25, 2020. He is Chair of the Planning and Zoning Committee. He is also a member of the Budget and Finance Committee, the Telecommunications Committee and Community Development.
Councilor Averhart has worked in municipal government for the past thirteen years. He worked in the banking industry for sixteen years prior to municipal government. Councilor Averhart is a graduate of Miles College and holds a Master’s in Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Phoenix. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Government Finance Officers Association of Alabama and is the former President of the Glen Oaks Neighborhood Association.
Councilor Averhart is excited about the revision of the City’s Master Plan. He believes in the Core Values: STEEL – Service, Transparency, Efficiency, Effectiveness, and Leadership. He envisions the City growing in the industries of Science, Technology, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, and Logistics. He seeks to support and enrich Fairfield City Schools’ efforts to empower students and teachers and to support the local chamber of commerce to help spur growth in our small business community. He promotes policies to improve roads and help ensure parks, sidewalks, lighting, and building structures are properly maintained.
